KONTRON ELEKTRONIK's DProbe386EX hardware and software debug tool provides an upward migration path and high performance. The DProbe386EX is the first in a series of tools designed to offer all the features and functions necessary to debug software in the embedded environment at an entry-level cost.
The DProbe386EX provides zero wait state emulation supporting any processor speed; and supports complete non-intrusive read and write access to all registers including hidden registers and descriptor tables. DProbe386EX features 256 software breakpoints and eight hardware breakpoints. Additionally, the DProbe386EX supports full emulation in all chip operating modes including Real, Protected, Virtual 86, and System Management Modes. It is available for chip operating voltages of 2.7 to 5.5 volts.
The DProbe family features a new flexible construction principle called K-SET (KONTRON-Scaled Emulation Technology). This technology allows KONTRON ELEKTRONIK to provide emulation support for new processor and controller architectures at the time of their introduction. The DProbe architecture is easily adaptable to various bus sizes and clock frequencies. The DProbe technology opens a new market segment and provides a new level of flexibility to any development team. The base unit includes the WinProbe software package which makes this tool very easy to start up and use. High-level language debugging is supported for all popular compilers.
The DProbe386EX can be ordered with either 384KB or 1.5 MB of overlay memory, and trace memory of 96 channels, 64K deep. It provides an easy upward migration path to higher end KONTRON ELEKTRONIK emulation tools for advanced development tasks and hardware/software integration.
All KONTRON ELEKTRONIK emulators meet the demanding European EMI requirements, specified by the CE mark. This provides a very reliable and accurate system for testing critical targets, even in highly sensitive environments.
